the shocking exploits of 4x4

U g h @ 10:39 pm

I went 200 entries back on the f-list and then I just couldn't read any more.  I really should log in more often.  Aaaaaand that's all I have energy to write....

It's been a while? @ 04:49 pm

I just finished reading my f-list of the last week.  It took a long time.  I fell asleep a couple of times.  Sorry, friends, it's not that you are boring, I'm just tired, and warm, and it's quiet...

I have probably missed a lot on lj over the course of the year.  Would you mind filling me in real quick?  ;)

Today I took Mina to the doctor for a pre-op physical.  Don't worry, she's just getting a tooth pulled, but it's kind of a big deal as she has to be put under for it and in the hospital and all that.  Yuck.

We saw a different doctor because our family doctor (known here as Dr. Dude) wasn't available on such short notice.  However, at the end of the visit, Dr. Dude came in to find out what's going on and I don't know, just say hi.  I swear he must have aced his Empathy class in med school.  He's just great.  And he's expecting a baby of his own this winter.  I love it when good people have babies.  It's so exciting.

Cullen is turning ONE on Saturday!  Unbelievable.  Today I watched him cruise around the Dentist office waiting room (yes we have a lot of appointments all the time always) --he was SO talkative, and he kept looking back at me and laughing every time he said something.  "SUGOOOOOH!" smile.  He still sounds like John Belushi's Samurai character on SNL.  Anyway he's acting like such a...TODDLER... Not a baby anymore.  He did bust his lip a little when he fell today but a few "Oh oh oh!" fake drops and he was laughing again.

Leta is an amazing little lady.  She has so much energy and wants to do EVERYTHING.  Her enthusiasm is dangerous sometimes!  She loves Jesus a lot too.  I guess that's what I get for having her attend preschool at a Lutheran church.  Truth is I think it's kind of hilarious and adorable.

My hair is long (for me) but I'm having Lowen chop it all off on Friday.  Yay!

Now it's time to make dinner.  Come visit me from time to time over HERE.

I've been tagged @ 09:56 pm

and there's rules! here they are, see-

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 56.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next seven sentences in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
6. Tag five other people to do the same.

"Regular exercise improves the flexibility of joints and minimizes stiffness.  It also helps stabilize joints by strengthening the muscles and ligaments surrounding them.  By maintaining the mobility of joints, exercise helps you remain independent and able to do more in later life.  If you have a joint disease, such as rheumatoid arthritis, strength-building exercises may stabilize affected joints and reduce further damage.

"You should exercise your muscles regularly to keep them in good condition.  Muscle size and strength can be increased with exercises that work against resistance, such as lifting moderate weights.  Aerobic exercises that build stamina, such as running and bicycling, make the muscles more efficient so that they can work for longer periods of time."

I like this @ 10:54 am

1. Think of the first word that comes to mind when you think of me.

2. Go to Google Images and search for that word.

3. Reply to this post with one of the pictures on the first page of results (don't tell me the word).

4. Put this in your own journal so that I can do the same.
(Alternately, if you respond and don't put this meme in your LJ, I will still do it for you as a response.)

Interesting... @ 11:06 am

Of course, I suck at chess like I do at all games.

Cullen is staring intently at a picture of a dog. And smiling at it. And then smiling at me. Oh my god. Cute. Must go gobble him.

no love @ 11:01 pm

I decided to go into the archives and find out what I was writing here in lj-land five years ago. Turns out it was a stupid meme.

One snippit:
When's the last time you slept with a stuffed animal? Never, but for a little while I slept holding a very small pillow that I affectionately called "pillow"

Oh my god. When I read that I just laughed and laughed. I then read it aloud to Jason, which was challenging because I was laughing so hard. Of course he didn't think it was funny at all, because it probably isn't.

But damn, I think it's hilarious. *wipes tear away* Oh Hilary, you rascal you!

hate to say it @ 11:34 pm

but I think my bumgenius diapers are near death. The velcro is all shabby and the laundry tabs no longer stick, and I noticed today that the plastic stuff inside is all...weird looking. They are still performing okay I guess.

I have fallen asleep three times since starting this post. I guess that means I should hit the hay!

THANK YOU, [info]sobriquet42 @ 12:32 pm

I just tore open your package! That was super sweet of you. I love the SOFT carter's outfit, Cullen will look SO TOUGH in it. ;) AND, *I* will look so cool with my fancy polka-dotted wipes case--I would never have guessed that's what it was! What a treat.

NOOOO @ 10:25 am

ATTN: skilled jeweler friends

I have a necklace that is beaded. It's three strings that connect at the ends, and today my little bundle of joy busted one of the ends. It is pretty well in tact--the string is nice and, I don't know, fibery so the beads don't really slip, but I have no idea how to go about reattaching/fixing. It was a kind of expensive mother's day present last year. Might anyone be able to help me?

AWESOME BURGER @ 09:53 pm

I had a burger at Ella's Deli today that I will probably think about every day until I have another one. It had battered and fried pickles on it and some kind of crazy horseradish sauce. I'm sure it was a thousand calories. Those calories tasted awesome and I don't regret them at all. Instead of having dessert I should have just had another burger. That's how good it was.

TWO FRONT TEETH. I love it.

Question about root canals @ 04:35 pm

My dentist offered to sedate me because I'm kind of, you know, fruit loops about people touching my teeth. This will cost me an extra $100 though. Is it worth it? Otherwise I would be numbed and feel no pain, but probably be freaking out a bit. I can handle freaking out, I mean it's not like I'm going to jump out of my chair and stuff, but then I've never had a root canal. Tell me, friends, what should I do?

NEVERMIND, I can't do it anyway because I'm a nursing mama.

Mina describes the snow @ 05:45 pm

google is timing out on me @ 07:39 pm

Is this the end of the world?

Special thanks to [info]wintergypsy for the ooey gooey cinnamon rolls in my door this morning, you sneaky sneak! I got up and looked outside, noting the new snow accumulation since I had shoveled the night before, and then when I walked by the door again I saw FOOTPRINTS coming up to my door. I have to say I was kind of freaked out for a second! Of course I ate them all with Leta and went into a sugar coma for a while. Seriously, my eyes got all black looking and I kept nodding off. It was THAT good.

At this time last year we were getting ready for a trip to Florida. I was all sick and had to BEG at the pharmacy for more than 3 days worth of Zofran. Thankfully they complied (eventually) and I was able to have a vomit-free vacation.

Leta is almost four! She's crazy. No, she really is. She now has a pet rock named Rocco just like Zoey on Sesame Street, but she also still has time to be Jack's long distance BFF. Did you know that he's allergic to SNOW?

I'm so tired. I'm watching Cops. I'm going to read my f-list now and hopefully not fall asleep.

Who knew she was so brilliant? @ 09:52 am

Leta has been wanting a camera since Jen brought the disposable cameras for Mina's birthday. Santa tried to get her a digital kids camera but it was so crappy it didn't even work. I guess you really can't get a camera for $20. Then my mom and GG bought her the $50 disney digital camera, but that didn't work very well either, so my mom returned it and we got a used GROWN UP digital camera on eBay. It's a Canon PowerShot SD20--a cute little red thing. It is PERFECT for her and really takes good pictures. Anyway, I posted some of her pictures here. Go check it out!
